Language….

First came in U.S.A thought my accent was not that bad,heard French people talking English with a huge thick FrRRRrench accent !
Some people even asked me where I was from, that was flattering because normally you recognize French talking English pretty easily !
Few people (but you always remember what you liked the most) asked me if I was English !!! Very very flattering….
Then…. then I started classes, one of my teacher only casted me in Foreigners people, I felt a little cast away…
Then we started Voice and Speech classes, And I learn that I have a lot a lot to work on !!! First of all my “H”, it’s basically an invisible letter in French, but in English it is a sound that can be really important to communicate. For example I was in a Restaurant, didn’t finish my diner and the waitress asked me “is everything alright” I told her “Yes thank you I’m not angry anymore” surprised she goes “Did the burger made you happy ?” “ooooh I’m not HHHungry anymore !”…. felt really dumb !
Then I learned that my “A” is not an American “A” ours is done in the nasal mask, and American language practically doesn’t use nasal mask, all is done down in the throat, the only problem with that is that when you’re not use to speak like that you feel really dumb, you feel like a voice over for film trailers, but eventually at some point I’ll get use to it, all vowels sounds Have the same issue with me so got to get use to doing it right,and hopefully sound better !
Same problem With the “S” sounds too : “on the teeth” for here, got to do it on the top of the pallet, More snake, got to watch Harry potter a lot more !! :p
The sad thing is now that I know all that shit everybody asks me if I’m French… yes I am, French !!
